A new version of M-Files
6.0 has been released (version 6.0.2325.14) that fixes an issue that can
occur when upgrading document vaults created in M-Files 5.0 to M-Files 6.0.
If you have upgraded to
M-Files 6.0 we recommend immediately updating all M-Files Server
installations to 6.0.2325.14.
Once your M-Files Server
has been upgraded to 6.0.2325.14, open the M-Files Server Administrator tool
and select each vault to see if any issues are reported. When upgrading
M-Files Server to version 6.0.2325.14 all issues are automatically fixed in
most cases, however if any issues are identified that cannot be automatically
resolved, a message will be displayed to contact M-Files Technical Support at
support@m-files.com for assistance
and we will assist you with resolving any issues.
Please be aware that the
additional extensive consistency checks in version 6.0.2325.14 may display a
message indicating that an issue potentially exists even when there are no
actual issues requiring resolution. It is still advised in all cases
when such a message is displayed that you contact M-Files Support at support@m-files.com so that an M-Files
support engineer can verify whether an actual issue exists that should be
addressed.
Note that all version 6.0
clients are compatible with M-Files Server 6.0.2325.14, so it is not
necessary to immediately update all client installations, however it is
recommended that you do so as well.
If you are still running
M-Files 5.0 or lower on your server, no immediate action is required. When
you upgrade to M-Files 6.0, be sure to use the latest available version,
i.e., M-Files 6.0.2325.14 or higher, when upgrading the server.

Note: You will need your M-Files
serial number to access the download page.

Background
In M-Files 5.0 even though the intended maximum length of document names or
other text values is 100 characters, it is possible to create document names
or other text values that are greater than 100 characters. In certain cases,
when upgrading such a vault to earlier versions of M-Files 6.0 (e.g., version
6.0.2325.0) some document names or text values that were greater than 100
characters may be incorrect.
Are your document vaults
affected?
Your document vaults might be affected by this issue if you have previously used
M-Files 5.0 or an older version of M-Files, and then you upgraded your server
to M-Files 6.0.2325.0 or to another version of M-Files 6.0 up to version
6.0.2325.6 and you have documents with names longer than 100 characters.
If you have upgraded your server
from M-Files 5.0 or earlier directly to M-Files 6.0.2325.7 or later, your
vaults will not be affected by this issue.
If you do not have document
names longer than 100 characters you will not be affected by this issue, but
it is sometimes possible to generate this type of long name inadvertently,
such as when dragging and dropping an email where the subject is used as the
default name. Additionally, creating document names longer than 100
characters is possible with the M-Files 5.0 API.
Retain a Backup of Your
M-Files 5.0 document vaults.
Additionally, we recommend that you retain a backup file that was created
prior to upgrading to M-Files 6.0, if such a backup file is still available.
The backup file is useful in quickly addressing issues that could not be
automatically resolved in the upgrade to M-Files 6.0.2325.14.

regarding this announcement or related issues, please feel free to directly
